This is our first coffee coming in from Kenya! It’s a wonderful coffee-growing region and culture. This one is a blend of Arabica varietals SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11 grown in Embu on the east slopes of Mt. Kenya. This area is a great environment for coffee to thrive in volcanic soil at 1600M - 1800M (5900ft). These coffees are grown, sorted and graded via CoOp and separated into distinct releases. This batch is washed processed and graded AB (based on size) and represents some of the best parts of the Kenyan specialty coffee production.
This coffee makes a delightful and approachable cup. It has some fruit character but nothing in the way of a natural processed coffee. A medium roast profile really balances the fruit/cocoa and gives ample body while also accommodating a good result from a variety of brew methods. We really like it as a espresso shot for an Americano or base for milk drinks but it also pour smooth from drip methods too.
Tasting notes: black grape, plum, dark cocoa, floral, light acidity, medium to heavy body
Hipster tasting notes: Your restless morning stays with you like an image burned into a neglected CRT terminal. The Elephant Ground Corps General’s words remind you of the daytime purpose. This accelerates the fade to a calming stream of thermal energy that quickly realigns the patterns of loose star material. It’s not forever but it is now. Can you even spot difference?
8oz resealable bag with one-way CO2 valve to preserve freshness
